A comprehensive scheme of traffic management on the modern lines in accordance with the requirements of the city is on the line. Under the scheme the whole provincial capital has been divided into 14 sectors designed for deployment while 120 ticketing offices and 220 constables have been deployed.

To keep the personnel energetic and for effective working a three and a half hours shifts have been introduced while no officer will be allowed to work for more than two weeks on a single point.

Throughout the system the proper reward and punishment system has been introduced. These steps are aimed at making the traffic management force effective and energetic as well as keeping them away from receiving illegal gratifications.

Commenting over the proposed scheme, the SP Traffic Muhammad Aalam Shinwari disclosed that computerisation of licences and ticketing system is being introduced while all illegal adda and stands will soon be abolished. He said that actions will be taken against all vehicles without permits while the movement of Bara and Landi Kotal buses will be regulated.

He said that different colours for vehicles of different routes will be adopted so that the misuse of routes is abolished. He said that various proposals under the scheme, both short and long terms have been submitted for approval of the chief minister.

At the same time, he said that a public awareness campaign will also be launched in co-operation with the information department while signboards etc will also be utilised for creating awareness among the masses for keeping the traffic streamlined.
